In 1965, my father (George) started a tree business (among many other jobs) with a chainsaw and a pick-up truck. My three brothers and I became involved as soon as we came of age. Our father focused on safety and customer service. He not only taught us the value of hard work, but how to problem-solve and innovate. As the years passed, my brothers moved into different careers but I chose to focus on what I had done all my life. I have a passion for tree work and I'm always looking for ways to make my job safer and more efficient. Having stayed true to my father's ethics, I've maintained customer relationships from the very beginning and continue to make new ones every day.
Lack of insurance is a big problem in the tree industry and our area is no exception. The majority of services in our area don'tcarry liability insurance or workers' comp insurance.
If an uninsured employee gets injured or killed on your property, YOU may be liable.
How can they be uninsured when the law requires it? Good question. There is no enforcement. It is up to you, the homeowner, to protect yourself from employers that choose not to pay for the insurance designed to protect their employees and you. A phone call to an insurance agency is all it takes to find out how many of their employees are actually covered. Don't be fooled by a piece of paper. Make the call. I carry liability and workers' comp insurance through Reinhardt's Insurance Agency in Hermitage, PA. Please feel free to check on my coverage. It's very expensive to buy this coverage, but that's what you get when you hire a professional service.
